Whether it is organising a club trip, fixing the boats, helping out with training or putting your hand in your pocket and fitting a tow bar, the club needs your help.
To improve the incentive to fit a tow bar and volunteer we have introduced a free dive to those who tow plus reimbursement for fuel at a rate of 17p/mile.
So how much is this package worth?
At 17p/mile you are compensated 100% of fuel cost assuming a consumption rate of 30 mpg. A free dive is given for towing in each direction to the coast. For a day this amounts to the equivalent of a further £24 at our current dive rate. It doesn’t take too many trips before the tow bar has paid for itself.
Remember the boats don't get to the coast on their own! A dive expedition with the boats is far too dependent on a small number of towers. This is your club and it needs your continued support.

--------- Towing - the practicalities ---------
You can use it to carry a bike rack with up to four bikes, tow a caravan, tow camping gear, get a trailer full of rubbish to the dump and be a Most Cherished ESAC member by being able to tow a boat.
http://www.trailertek.com/towbars.php gives a reasonable indication of what you should pay.
If you’re buying a second-hand car think tow-bar and if you’re buying new, see if you can get one fitted thrown in.
The following companies in the ESAC area sell and fit tow bars. Your editor has used London Sunroof. It was a while ago, but they were fine.

How powerful a car do you need? Check the manual - if it states it can tow 1200kg, that should be enough for our boats.
